TMA's 2011 Legislative Report Card: Caring for Patients in a Time of Change

======================

In October 1898, the El Paso County Medical Society was organized and the first officers were  F.W. Gallagher, president; M.O. Wright, vice president; J.A. Rawlings, secretary, and Howard Thompson, treasurer. There were only 16 members listed. Today, the El Paso County Medical Society has over 500 active members and 170 retired members. This does not include the Residents and Medical Students, in which this count changes every year.

The El Paso County Medical Society emphasizes the union of physician into an organization, secures and enacts enforcement of legislation and fosters good relations in the community. The message of EPCMS is to “unite under the highest quality of care to our patients.”

The El Paso County Medical Society serves as an advocate for the local physicians in issues such as legislative and working with local authorities to assure that physicians are recognized in these efforts and have a voice. The local physicians are truly interested in the local community and the need to assure quality medical outcomes for their patients.

Dr. B. Applebaum

Bruce J. Applebaum, M.D.
2012 President
